/ QAE2 - Quality Assurance Engineer

I plan and execute testing of features and report issues to the team, fix quality process and educational problems in order to improve the long term quality.
Scope

  • I think a step ahead in my work when making technical decisions to solve the problems right before they become bigger. If needed I notify the engineering manager and manager to help me when I get stuck;

Testing fluency
  • My testing is informed by the specs.
  • I have basic knowledge of the architecture, and reasonable assumptions over the back-end and the front-end changes.
  • I proactively work with the subject matter experts (clients, peers, consultants) to identify test cases that would require domain knowledge;
  • I have familiarity with several types of testing (front-end, back-end, automation, usability and specific testing platforms);
  • I have good attention to detail and consistently notice bugs that might not be caught by a verification step;
  • I might be an expert in a certain domain, offering domain knowledge for new project in the same domain;
  • My bug reports provide all of the details for the software engineer to investigate and solve it further;

Testing strategy
  • I work with my engineering manager and manager to identify high risk projects that I will be part of;
  • I plan and execute testing on small to medium sized features;
  • I prioritize test coverage, based on the following criteria (main line path vs number of users on a platform, customer impact, performance issues, etc.);

Quality process strategy
  • I understand the established quality assurance processes and drive them effectively. 
    I am learning how changes in their execution can impact quality;
    I identify and fix simple processes within the team;

Quality assessment
  • I proactively report status to the team including basic understanding of identified risks;

​Quality advocacy
  • I teach the basic skills of testing fluency to different teams;
  • I proactively understand my customers’ needs in order to resolve the quality challenges that they see;
  • I use my customer understanding to prioritize the bug fixing process;

6. Compensation

Base salary range: 731 EUR – 1148 EUR.
